INDICTMENTS RETURNED IN HAMMOND FEDERAL COURT

 

 

                Hammond, Indiana- The United States Attorney’s Office announced that the following Indictments were returned on October 3, 2012:

 

  Ø   Ulises Barcena-Castro, 32, of Highland, Indiana, was charged in an Indictment with illegal reentry after removal for a conviction for an aggravated felony.  These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by ICE-Department of Homeland Security.  This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Philip Benson.

 

  Ø   Jose Louis Reyes-Zuniga, 31, of Hammond, Indiana, was charged in an Indictment with illegal reentry, misuse of a Social Security Number, using fraudulent documents to satisfy employment requirements and identity theft.  These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by ICE-Department of Homeland Security and the East Chicago Police Department.  This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Philip Benson.

 

The United States Attorney's Office emphasized that an Indictment is merely an allegation and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court. 

 

If convicted in court, any specific sentence to be imposed will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
